Ayla Algan (born 29 October 1937, in Istanbul, Turkey) is a Turkish film/stage actress[1] and singer.
Ayla Algan was born in Istanbul and spent her childhood in France where she studied at Notre Dame de Sion High School and Versailles Lycee. Then she moved to the USA where she joined the New York Actors Studio as an actress. Later she joined the Language and Culture Center in Turkey and worked as a theatre actress and instructor. In 1964, she made her film debut in Karanlıkta Uyananlar directed by Ertem Göreç. After achieving a great deal of success in film and theatre, she started a successful singing career.When she was in the US, she refused the role of Fanny Brice from the movie called Funny Girl. Than in 1968, Barbra Streisand took the role and won the best leading actress Oscar. She acted 'Betül' in a romantic drama, called Binbir Gece.
